about

written in 2015 (for O, Scar on My Heart)

this was my first dip into folksy music and lyrics that were more about relaying an honest story, rather than for something that i've overheard in a conversation. i first showed these lyrics to my friend who told me that the lyrics were really f*ckin sad and i was in love with the feeling of this song being incredibly sad; i loved sadness at the time that i wrote this.

"untitled #587" is a song about the fear of falling in love (platonic or romantic) and revealing yourself to others. it talks about the trust that you'd have to gather to even be able to love someone in a way that includes sharing yourself. it's also about trusting yourself and others not to hurt you, and knowing that that's scary as hell.

fave line: "i don't wanna love someone/that'll leave"

lyrics

If I fall in love/I run the risk of losing you

If I stay afraid/and stay away

I just might do the same/anyway

I don’t trust a heart/that fades so easily

I don’t wanna love someone/that’ll leave.

So if you take my heart/and you run away

I won’t get it back/it’ll fade away

and if I fall in love/tonight

I’ll fall apart/just like sand in the wind.

If I stay the night/I run the risk of staying forever

oh if I stay the night/I’ll stay the same

I will fall in love/it’ll end in flames

No I don’t trust a love/that’ll fade so easily

When you yourself can’t take/that it’ll leave
